About One Less Worry, Inc.

One Less Worry, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2010 by Amy DuMond, Rick Lavelle and Trina Smith.

The inspiration for the organization came from Amy and Rick’s dear friend, and Trina’s mother, Terisa Draper.

Terisa passed away on October 10, 2009 at the age of 50 from lung cancer, only 4 months after diagnosis, leaving behind three children.

In the months following Terisa’s untimely passing, Amy, Rick and Trina spent many hours talking about a way to help others and to preserve Terisa’s memory at the same time.

One Less Worry would become the name for the charity, hoping to give just “one less worry” to people like Terisa who are battling cancer and fighting for their lives while worrying about finances.

One Less Worry, Inc. sponsors several fund raising events throughout the year, including Trek for Terisa, the largest event, held every October.

Recipients (local Sacramento cancer patients undergoing treatment) are chosen and proceeds are given directly to them to spend however they choose – mortgage payments, medical bills, a vacation or whatever else they desire.

Today, the organization has a large group of dedicated volunteers and a growing number of supporters and followers.

Since its inception, One Less Worry, Inc. has given more than $40,000 to cancer patients in Sacramento, and that number will continue to grow as the organization grows.

With the assistance of it’s current Vice President, Brenda Mojarro, One Less Worry became incorporated and is now a registered 501(c)(3) public charity (Federal Tax ID: #81-3873175).
