Our Mission & Goal

Each year we strive to help relieve the financial stresses that come with fighting cancer for as many Sacramento Area cancer patients as possible. Our hope is that by giving our recipients “one less worry” it will help them to focus on their recovery and their families instead of their financial burdens.

meet our 2022 recipients

Kathy jourganatos

2021 Recipient Jeremy Kennish

Kathy has been a loyal supporter and volunteer for One Less Worry for many years and was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She will be undergoing a lumpectomy on Sept. 30th, 2022, and then will likely undergo radiation and further treatment as needed. We are so glad we can help her as she is retired and on a fixed income. Her insurance will not fully cover the many bills ahead.

Kathy is such a giving person, in fact last year she rode her bicycle 300 miles to raise money for Children's Cancer Research Fund! Still very active and full of energy at age 65, she never thought she'd be a cancer victim and is now more passionate than ever about the importance of yearly mammograms.

laurie walker

2021 Recipient Merle Bisler

Laurie is battling ovarian cancer and will be starting chemo (again) in November, 2022. She was also our recipient in 2016 shortly after she was diagnosed with Stage 3 ovarian cancer. She had a couple years of remission, but unfortunately the beast has returned. Laurie went on disability and eventually had to retire from her job in the medical field due to the cancer.

She is an avid fan of dogs and the outdoors, and is just one of the kindest, most generous, positive people out there and we are so sad to hear that she's going through this again but are grateful to be able to help give her one less worry through her ordeal.
