Our Mission & Goal
meet our 2023 recipient
Jennifer Dunn
Jennifer is a 44-year-old terminal cancer patient who was diagnosed with Colon Cancer in 2019. She's undergone several surgeries and has been receiving chemo for the past 4 years.
She and her husband, Christian Martinez, a Spanish teacher at San Juan High School, have a daughter named Avalie. Jennifer met Christian 15 years ago in China where she worked as an ethnographer. He was a professional musician there. They had plans of a life full of adventure, traveling the world, and her pursuing her dream career in anthropology and journalism.
Sadly, she is now dealing with the physical, emotional, and financial damages unleashed by her diagnosis.
Jennifer's parents have sold their dream retirement home after 50 years of marriage to move in with their daughter and family to help support them, but Jennifer wants nothing more than for them to enjoy their retirement.
Jennifer is an incredibly sweet and upbeat person and is just so grateful to be alive. In her words, she wants, "to spend more time with her daughter and less drama."
She is so grateful to have have been chosen as this year’s recipient and that One Less Worry understands the difficult nature of their situation.
You can help Jennifer and her family by joining us at this year's Alohana Fest on Saturday, September 30. You can register to attend or if you can't make it you can donate any amount (one-time, monthly or yearly) - the proceeds and donations go directly to help Jennifer.
